Untouched helmet in near Mint Condition.
Royal Saxon 12th or 23rd Pioneer Battalion - Officer Model 1897. Black lacquered leather helmet body with fine silver trim. Helmet body has perfect form and firm stitching. Exterior lacquer is flawless in near mint condition. Interior of helmet has sweat leather and silk headliner complete in excellent + condition. No extra holes in the helmet body.
The front plate is the Saxon silver star and gold center device. All trim has the same soft patina. Tall silver spike and base. Gold stars at base of helmet. Spike is removable which is proper. The 12th Pioneer Battalion wore a black Haarbusch. Beautiful silver chinscales on silver rosettes. Special non-seratted Saxon and Reichs cockades. This helmet is a beautiful, 100% original and untouched. Great WWI era Saxon Officers helmet from small Battalion sized units.
