Prussian Garde du Corps Enlisted Pickelhaube to Parade
The Ultimate in German Imperial Headgear
Prussian Garde du Corps and Guard Kürassier Enlisted helmet with Parade Eagle circa 1900. Beautiful helmet recently found. Untouched and all Original helmet left in "as found condition". Elegant Tombak metal helmet body with round front visor and broad-swept neck guard (Lobster Tail). Shell in Marked by "DAMASCHKE" and Sized "55". Fitted with a tall silver parade eagle. The Lobstertail helmet body is in excellent shape with a few minor dents (see photo) that can be easily straightened. The exterior finish is gently oxidized with age but can be easily hand polished to its former glory. The frontplate of the helmet is a fine silvered Prussian Order of the Black Eagle Star. In the center of the silver star is the Black Eagle Order with the motto 'SUUM CUIQUE' and beneath, a wreath of laurel leaves. All in perfect condition, no extra holes.
The impressive parade eagle is Private Purchase/Officers quality (see pictures of feather detail) in silver metal with gilded crown fitted to the head. The eagle stands on a silver football base that is affixed to the helmet body with a central screw attachment (see pictures). The convex M1894 Tombac chinscales are fitted to the helmet on M1894 lugs. Reich and State cockades. The interior of the helmet is the black dyed leather liner in mint and supple condition. The interior back visor is painted black - about 60% original paint left- and the front visor in green color. This helmet is one of the finest "out of the woodwork" pieces we have ever found. It is very rare to find something that has not been damaged or overworked in poor restoration efforts. We leave it "as found" so the purchaser can determine how they wish to display it.
