Original and Rare helmet

Hanoverian 16th Dragoon Regiment (2nd Hanoverian Dragoon- Established 1813-Luneburg) Officer Model 1899. Fine leather helmet body with squared front visor and silver metal trim. Black lacquered leather helmet body with frosted silver trim. No extra holes in helmet body. The helmet interior has fine sweat leather and silk headliner. The helmet has a silver crossed spike base with officer pearl/diamond ornamentation at base of spike. Smooth removable spike. Large gold stars retain cross base to helmet.

The Frontplate is the post-January 24, 1899 Officer Hanoverian Dragoon Eagle with the banner “Waterloo” to commemorate this regiments service in the Kings German Legion at the battle of Waterloo. The Waterloo Banner of this helmet is made of solid cast silver and is soldered to the plate. AOK had consulted several helmet specialists who said that officer of this regiment were allowed to add the "Waterloo" banner to their existing helmet plate. Some were known to have such solid silver banners made for their helmet plates. The soldering appears to be period. Original set of convex rounded gold chinscales with a silver officer rosette. Original officers Reich and Prussian cockades.
