Outstanding and untouched helmet
Prussian/Hannoverian 10th Field Artillery Regiment (1st Hannoverian) and the Niedersachisches 46 Field Artillery Regiment - 1,4,5 and 6, batteries, Officer Aspirant - Fahnrich, Model 1897. Extremely rare helmet. From a major US collection. The helmet is the standard black lacquered leather helmet body with all gilt metal trim. Helmet body in excellent condition with firm stitching. Exterior lacquer is matte with age but still is shiny. No extra holes in helmet body. Interior has sweat leather and blue silk headliner. Inner visors are natural colored leather.
The frontplate for the helmet is the Line Prussian Eagle with pierced crown and the banners "Península", "Waterloo" and "Göhrde" on either side of the eagle's head. The helmet has a Standard Officer spike base with pearl ring and star retainers. A ball on top of the base for artillery regiments. Convex chinscales on rosettes. Single piece Reichs and Prussian cockades and a EM back spine show this helmet is an Officer Aspirant. Quite rare as there were only the 10 FAR and 4 Batteries of the 46th who wore this frontplate. Outstanding and untouched helmet.
