Bavarian Infantry Officer "Freiherr" Visor Cap
Initialed with Baronial Crown
Tall version "Schirmmutze" for a Bavarian Officer. Inside the Black silk lining are his Initials "W.M" and the Baronial or Freiherr Krone. Dark blue Visor with some moth damage (see pictures) and red band/piping. Overall shape of the visor is excellent. Black visor, white underneath. Both Reichs and Bavarian Cockades.
Inside Lining with the brown simi-leather sweat band marked from the famous Munich Makers "Christian Schwarz", who was the provider of most of the Royal families Uniforms and accoutrements. Sweat band has unfortunately been repaired in some places (mainly towards the back) and "stupidely" stapeled twice in the rear (see pics). We did not try to remove any and will leave this to the futur owner, but we believe it can be easily made better by a Pro. Black silk lining in excellent original condition.
This visor was Someones'! It all matches with the "taller" version (not an early 1870's type), Inside white visor, Made by Christian Schwarz, Black Silk lining..... probably easy to find the owner if one wishes to read through the Bavarian Ranglisten. We did find a "GeneralMajor Ritter von Waechter" - Major at teh begininig of the war. See last picture....however no guarantee that this is his Mütze.
