Prussian 15th Hussar Enlisted Fur Busby
Beautiful and Rare Regimental Busby!
Prussian-Hannoverian 15th Hussar Regiment (Queen Wilhelmina of the Netherlands Regiment - Hannoverian) – EM – Fur Busby (Pelzmutze) – Model 1897-1899. The Pelzmütze is made from black-dyed seal hair and remains in excellent to near mint condition and has silver metal trim. There is a small amount of hair loss around the bottom left side (see photos). The frontplate is the silver EM “Mit Gott fur Koenig u. Vaterland” over which is placed the 1899 awarded banner “Peninsula – Waterloo – El Bodon – Barossa” for this regiments service in the British Kings German Legion during the Napoleonic Wars.
Rounded brass M95 chinscales fitted over EM sidelugs. Single EM style Reichs cockade under right chinscale. On top of the flat portion of the Busby is a yellow colored Kolpak (wool bag) which hangs on the left side of the Pelzmütze. The Kolpak is in excellent condition with some minor moothing. Original Prussian white cotton cloth with black centered Feldzeichen. The liner is the enlisted man natural undyed type that is unique to Busbies. Extremely rare and regimental hussar busby.
Note: The later issued Bandeaus were stamped out in one piece. However, the Busbys issued in 1898 prior to the receipt of the "Award" in 1899 by the Kaiser received and added "award" to the original bandeau. This is common for all the Hannover units. Added Waterloo and other banners were common add ons as well.
