Prussian Infantry officers Pickelhaube with Field Cover

Wonderful high quality WW1 era ensemble.

Prussian Line Infantry Officer MODEL 1897 with cloth field cover. Beautiful condition and untouched. Black lacquered leather helmet body with fire gilded metal trim. Helmet body in perfect form and firm stitching. Exterior lacquered matte with age but with no damage or lacquer loss. There are 2 holes in body that appear never to have been used (see photos). This frontplate has been with this helmet throughout it active use. Beautiful near mint condition interior sweat leather and silk headliner. Interior visors are red and green as is proper for officer helmets.

Tall officer pattern round spike and base. The spike is removble. Officer style star retainers. The frontplate is the highly gilded standard Prussian Line frontplate that is retained to the helmet body with screw attachments. Flat chinscales on rosettes. Officer style Reichs and Prussian cockades. The helmet includes the cloth field cover. This is a high quality fitted cover. It has elastic around spike base and ear pieces that helps the the cover fit tightly to the helmet. There are several small holes in cover on the rear and on the spike bag (Aee Photos). Wonderful high quality WW1 era ensemble. Excellent piece.
