Prussian 9th Dragoon Officer in Silver. Model 1915

Hanoverian 9th Dragoon Regiment (1st Hanoverian Dragoon- Established 1805-Metz) Officer Model 1899/1915. Leather helmet body with squared front visor and silver metal trim. The leather body shows some minor crazing but excellent sheen. There are no extra holes in helmet body. The helmet interior has sweat leather and brown silk headliner. The silk liner is slightly loose towards front but no damage. The helmet has a silver crossed spike base with officer pearl/diamond ornamentation at base. Base held by 4 gold stars.

Tall smooth spike tha unscrews. The Frontplate is the new post 1915 Officer Hanoverian Dragoon Eagle with the banner “Waterloo – Peninsula - Göhrde” to commemorate this Regiments service in the Kings German Legion during the Napoleonic Wars. This regiment served in Spain and during the final battle at Waterloo. Original set of convex rounded gold chinscales with a gold officer rosette. Original officers Reich and Prussian cockades.
It is a genuine and untouched Hannoverian 9th Dragoon Officer.

The A.K.O of September 21, 1915 changed all the Dragoon Regiments to a Silver trim (except for the 1st Garde Dragoon). This did not affect the enlisted pattern helmets that went straight to the Model 1915 painted steel pattern. But all officers helmets had to switch to Silver Metal. This is a rare and genuine example of one of these late changes.
