Beautiful custom made (Eigentum) helmet.
Braunschweig 92nd Infantry “Deaths Head” for NCO circa 1912. Beautiful black lacquered leather helmet body with gilt trim. In overall near Mint condition. The helmet body has perfect form and firm stitching. No crazing to lacquer. Beautiful fire gilt trim with an NCO base and a beautiful tall smooth spike that unscrews to adapt a trichter / Haarbusch for parade. Base is held on the helmet body with domed brads and nuts. The inside of the helmet is of officiers grade with calkskin and brown silk, all remaining in mint condition. Front visor of fine grade brown leather and back visor with red lining.
The Front plate is the 2nd type introduced by AKO of January 27, 1912. Prussian Eagle but for "Füerstentums" or Duchys with the "Mit Gott fur Fuerst Und Vaterland" bandeau. In it center a silver Skull with crossed bones and below the "Peninsula" bandeau. The skull is held to the eagle with two screws/nuts. See pictures of plate removed. A fancy type of leather chinstrap mounted on M1891 lugs over a set of Original Reichs (repainted but original) and Braunschweig Cockades will complete this beautiful helmet. Perfect custom made (Eigentum) helmet for an Elite regiment. Extremely rare
