Excellent - Near mint overall condition

Prussian Line Grenadier Officer Model 1897 that is the Newest Model used after 1911. Black lacquered fiber body helmet with gilded brass metal trim. Black fiber helmet body has perfect form and fine stitching. The exterior lacquer is in near mint condition with a bright finish and no lacquer loss. The helmet body has NO extra holes. The helmet interior has standard sweat leather and silk headliner. The liner is in good condition but shows minimal use and some tears (see photo).

Inner visors colored red and green as is proper for an officer helmet. Round spike base with stars at base that has split brad retainers. The tall gilt spike top that is removable. The frontplate in the Prussian wide winged Grenadier Eagle* that is held to helmet body by split brads. Flat gilt chinscales on rosettes. Original Reichs and Prussian Officer cockades. Beautiful and 100% original helmet that has not been cleaned or polished. (* Due to the frontplate being held by split brads, we have not taken the frontplate off for photography. We do not want to break them.)
