Extremely Rare and Regt. Issued
Prussian 9th Grenadier (Colberg Grenadier Regiment - Graf Gneisenau - 2nd Pomeranian) Enlisted Man - Model 1895-1913. Black lacquered leather helmet body with brass metal trim. Helmet body has fine form and firm stitching. Exterior lacquer in near perfect condition with no damage or lacquer loss. No extra holes in the helmet body. Black dyed leather EM liner that is still soft and supple. Marked inside helmet bell "9 G.R." (see photos). The helmet is also marked inside leather liner "CGR 9" for Colberg Grenadier Regiment 9.
The frontplate is the wide winged Grenadier Eagle on which is the banner "Colberg 1807" to commemorate the regiments service in the Napoleonic War. The frontplate is stamped in one piece. Round brass spike base with removable spike. Flat brass chinscales on M1891 side lugs. Enlisted style Reichs and Prussian cockades. Extremely RARE helmet model and the 9th Grenadier did not change the frontplate until June 16, 1913 so there were very few of these helmets issued before WWI. This helmet is 100% original and untouched. Extremely rare find in today's marketplace.
