Rare unit and hard to find

Prussian 1st Guard Dragoon Reserve Officer helmet Model 1897.  Black lacquered leather helmet with gilded brass trim. Body style is the standard Dragoon Style with squared front visor trim and crossed spike base (same style as General Officer helmet).  The body has excellent form and firm stitching. No extra holes in the helmet body. The helmet has bright gilded brass cross spike base with officer pearl ring maintained by 4 star retainers. Smooth spike that is the proper pattern for Dragoons (see picture) that is removable for use of plume for parade.

The frontplate is the Prussian Guard Eagle without banner and Silver Guard star with enameled center, on the Eagle's chest. Below Guard Star is silver reserve cross. The frontplate is maintained to the helmet with screws. The inside has the original sweat leather with silk headlining. Original convex chinscales on rosettes. Officer style Reichs and Prussian cockades. Beautiful all original Prussian Guard Dragoon Regiment Reserve officer.  Very rare to find in todays market.
