Wurttemberg 13th Train Battalion Officer helmet Model 1897. Beautiful black lacquered leather helmet body with highly gilded brass trim. The helmet body has excellent form and firm stitching. Exterior lacquer shows age but is in near perfect condition. The interior of the helmet has officer white colored sweat leather and silk headliner that is in very good condition. Hand written into sweat leather is the wearers name “Ritter von Prummer”. No extra holes in the helmet body.
The inner visors of helmet are red and green as is common for officers. As the front plate is the Wurttemberg crest. The front plate is 100% original and finely gilded, it is held to the helmet by screw attachments. Officer style crossed spike and base held to helmet body with star screw retainers. The spike top is removable. Rounded officer chinscales on rosettes. Reichs and Wurttemberg 2-piece officer cockades. This helmet is 100% original and untouched.
Search of the 1914-1918 Ehren Ranklisten show Ritter von Prummer began his military career as an officer in the Wurttemberg 122nd Infantry Regiment but was later transferred to the Train Battalion. This is an outstanding helmet that is named to an active participant in the Great War.
