Prussian 7th Uhlan Officer's Tschapka
Rare Example. Woodwork find.
Prussian 7th Uhlan Officer Tschapka Model 1900 post 1913. A genuine out of the woodwork find in the U.S Midwest. Black leather body showing age and crazing, silver front visor trim (visor is loose). The top mortar board has crazing at base and is a bit weak. The frontplate is a large silver grenadier style eagle Prussian that was issued in 1913. The original frontplate was a silver line Prussian type. Two sets of post holes, one set for the older silver line eagle and a second set used to attach the larger 1913 eagle.
A fine example of an officer who was active through a front plate change. Front plate attached by two screw posts and nuts. Gilded officer chin straps attached by officer posts (heavy patina), Prussian officer bullion field badge, leather sweat band with aged silk liner. This is a very rare and untouched condition piece. This helmet plate is the rarest of all Uhlan Regiments and was only used for 5 years. Wonderfully “Salty”.
