Great WWI era Saxon Officers helmet from a rare unit.
Saxon 1st Eisenbahn Regiment 7th and 8th Company, Officer Model 1895. Out of the "Woodwork" in Germany. Black lacquered leather helmet body with silver trim. Helmet body has perfect form and firm stitching. Exterior lacquer has soft age-related sheen but no cracks or damage besides a small lacker loss spot around the spike base. Interior of helmet has sweat leather and silk headliner with a little wear but mainly dirty.
No extra holes in helmet body. Front plate is the Saxon silver star and gold center device. All silver trim including base/spike, back spine, side rosettes and front visor trim are lightly oxidized and left UNTOUCHED (see photos). Gold stars at base of helmet. Spike is not removable which is proper for this unit. Gold chinscales on silver rosettes. Special non-seratted Saxon and Reichs cockades. Helmet shows age and use but is otherwise in excellent condition. This helmet is 100% original and untouched. Great WWI era Saxon Officers helmet from a rare regiment.
