Oldenburg Infantry Officer Pickelhaube
Very attractive rare regiment helmet.
Oldenburg 91st Infantry Regiment Officer Model 1897. From the Rich Ames Collection. Black lacquered leather helmet body with gilded brass trim. Helmet body has excellent form and firm stitching. No extra holes in helmet body. Exterior lacquer excellent. Interior has sweat leather and officers silk headliner in excellent condition. Green and Red lined front and back visors respectively. Both visors with firm stitching.
The frontplate is the Prussian Line Officers Eagle with the silver star and the arms of Oldenburg on the Eagles breast. The Oldenburg Star is mounted to the frontplate with 2 screws but there are two slits in the eagle where another star may have been mounted. There are no solder marks so they may not have been used. The Oldenburg Star is the only one appropriate for this eagle. Tall gold Officers Spike with star retainers. Flat gilt chinscales held by gold rosettes. Officers blue and red Oldenburg and Reichs Cockades. Very attractive rare regiment helmet.
