Prussian / Hanoverian 79th Infantry Helmet and Cover

Beautiful old grouping. Bargain priced.

Hannoverian 79th Infantry Regiment (3rd Hannoverian - Inf. Regt. Von Voigts-Rherz - Headquartered in Hildesheim) - Enlisted Man Model 1895 with original red number and marked field cover. From an old American Collection. Black lacquered helmet with brass trim. This regiment the standard Prussian Line EM style helmet but wore a "Gibraltar" band on the cuff of their uniform. Leather body with round front visor has perfect form and firm stitching. Exterior lacquer is in very fine condition. No extra holes in the helmet body. Interior has an EM style black dyed leather lining that shows age and use but is complete in very good condition.

No marking legible in the helmet body. Round spike base with 4 split brad retainers. Brass EM type spike is not removable. Front plate is the standard Prussian Eagle with the "Mitt Gott Fur Koenig und Vaterland" banner. Missing the leather chinstrap and both Reichs and Prussian cockades . The cloth field cover is an early still were the cloth body and spike tip are all made together (see photos). The cover is held by steel hooks on the front and back visor. The red number "79" is sewn to the cloth body. Marked inside cloth cover in black ink "I R 79", "L.C." and "2" (See photos). Beautiful old grouping. Bargain priced.
