Prussian 40th Field Artillery Officer Pickelhaube with Field Cover

Complete Grouping

Prussian 40th Field Artillery Regiment (Almark Artillery Regt.) Officer Model 1897 with special reversible numbered Field Cover and Carrying case. From an old collection. Beautiful black lacquered leather helmet body with high gilded brass trim. The helmet body has perfect form and firm stitching. Exterior lacquer is flawless and in near mint condition. The interior of the helmet has officer sweat leather and dark green silk headliner that is in excellent condition. The inner visors of helmet are red and green as is common for officers. No extra holes in the helmet body. The front plate is the Prussian Line Regiments heraldic eagle. The frontplate is held to the helmet by screw attachments. Officer style spike and base held to helmet body with star screw retainers. The Artillery ball is removable. Rounded chinscales on rosettes. Reichs and Prussian 2-piece officer cockades. This helmet is 100% original and untouched. Grouping includes a double sided officer style field cover (see Photos). One side is the regimental number "40" in red cloth. The reverse side is the cover with attached red maneuver band. The field cover is also in near mint condition. Grouping includes Officer carrying case with complete leather handle and closing straps. It is very rare to find such a complete grouping in today's marketplace.
