Prussian 2nd Dragoon Enlisted Pickelhaube
Rare Helmet in excellent condition
Black Laquered leather helmet body in excellent overall condition. Lacquer remains smooth with no defaults. Both visors are firmly stitched, front one is the square type for Cavalry. Beautiful brass trim with the Dragoon style Cross base and typical spike top. Base retained with 4 round brads. Spike is removable to be fited with a trichter and plume for parade. Dragoon back spine.
The front plate is the prussian dragoon eagle with the Vaterland bandeau retained to the helmet with screws and nuts through "grometed" holes. No extra holes in helmet body. Plate fit the helmet well. In the center of the eagles' breast is the silver "Brandenburg Electors" medalion that was given to this Regiment in June of 1913. The center of the crowned medalion presents the Scepter of the grand Electors. The medalion is screwed to the Eagle's breast.
This helmet came from an old Collection and we took all the pictures necessary for the collector to make up his own mind in regards to the medalion. The few original medalions that we have encountered so far were "Stamped out" in German Silver. This one is of excellent quality but filled in the back, maybe cast, or simply spamped out and filled again? We believe it to be an Old Copy as it is definitely NOT a Galvano or modern copy...
