Prussian Garde Infantry Officer Pickelhaube to Parade
Perfect centerpiece in a helmet collection
Prussian Guard Infantry Officer to Parade - Model 1897. From the Rich Ames Collection. Black lacquered leather helmet body with fine fire gilt metal trim. The helmet body has fine form and firm stitching. The exterior black lacquered is near perfect but the weight of the plume has caused the back portion to push down. This can be easily reformed with steam and a head block. There are no extra holes in helmet body, The frontplate is the Prussian Guards Eagle with a vaulted Black Eagle Order star on the eagle's breast. Gilded round spike base with star retainers.
On the spike base is placed a tall plume trichter and very full white Yak Hair plume. The plume needs a good hair wash to bring it back to bright white color. The helmet interior has very fine sweat leather and silk headliner. Inner visors red and green as is normal for officer helmets. Flat gold chinscales on gold rosettes. Officer Reichs and Prussian cockades. This is a beautiful helmet from the prestigious Prussian Guards regiments. Perfect centerpiece for a fine helmet collection
