Prussian 173rd Infantry Regiment Marked Enlisted Pickelhaube

Regimentally Marked to 173R.

Prussian 173rd Infantry Regiment (9th Lorraine Infantry Regtiment - Headquartered in Metz and St. Avold). Enlisted Man Model 1915. Excellent conditioned helmet that is beautifully marked. Standard Prussian Line EM style helmet with field gray trim. Black lacquered leather body with round front visor and round spike base. Helmet has perfect form and firm stitching. Exterior lacquer is in excellent condition. Interior has an EM style black dyed leather lining that is still supple and in excellent condition.

Round spike base with 4 split brad retainers. Field Gray EM type spike that twists off and is removable. Front plate is the standard Prussian Eagle with the "Mitt Gott Fur Koenig und Vaterland" banner. The spike including base and backspine appeared to have been refurbished when the helmet was re-issued.  NO extra holes in helmet body. Replacement Leather chinstrap but proper form and configuration.  Original Reichs and Prussian cockades .

Inside left side back visor are the following regimental markings “173 R." "1916”  “B.L.A. VII” which is for the Landwehr Bekleidigungs Amt and “F”.  There is also an illegible handwritten name. On the right inner visor is the handwritten name “Reich” and “B.A.X.” that has been crossed out with a red ink line.  Inside the helmet bell is maker marked “Maury and Co”. A beautiful helmet in every way. It is rare to find such a nice conditioned and marked helmet.
