Hessen 25th Field Artillery Officers Pickelhaube with Cover

Hessen 25th Field Artillery Regiments Officer Model 1897 with numbered cloth Field Cover and carrying case. Recently obtained from and old collection in the US. Beautiful and near mint ensemble. Black leather helmet body with fine fire gilded trim, The helmet body is in near perfect condition with excellent form and firm stitching. No extra holes in the helmet body. The interior has fine sweat leather and silk headliner. Inner visors colored red and green as is proper for an officer helmet. The frontplate is the Hessen Lion in officer quality fire gilt. Hessen style crossed spike base with ornamented spike base which is proper for Artillery regiments.

Round artillery ball on top. The base is held to the helmet body with star screw retainers. Rounded chinscales on rosettes. Officer style Reichs and Hessen cockades. The ensemble includes gray/green officer cloth field cover with green number "25" attached on front. The field cover still has the makers tag on the top bag of the cover. The field cover is in mint condition and appears never to have been worn. We have tested the cover with a black light and there is no fluorescence. Helmet carrying case included. Very rare ensemble from and elite Hessen Artillery regiment.
