French Model 1858 Dragon Enlisted Helmet - Franco Prussian War
100% Franco Prussian War Helmet
Brass helmet shell in near mint condition with no dents. Nice regimental markings. Tall Cimier of the model 1858 with the black original horsehair mane used to protect the wearer from sword cuts during battle. The top front of the chimer is mounted with the Black Haired Marmouset (red for Cuirassier) of the proper model.
Chained original chinscales mounted on leather strap. The 100% original "imitation leopard skin" surround the base of the helmet and is attached to the back as can be seen on the pictures. The helmet shell is identified to the 4th Dragon "4D" Regiment with a manufacturing/issue date of 1870 "70". Stamps of maker Delachaussée. Inside lining under both visors in very good shape. Leather liner remains supply with age marks
A genuine helmet in excellent + condition that needs some TLC. 100% original to period.
