**RARE** Prussian 9th Grenadier (Colberg) Officer Model 1897 ( this style used until 1911 when it was replaced with a wide wing grenadier eagle). From the Rich Ames Collection. Beautiful and very rare helmet. Black lacquered leather body with round front visor and fine fire gilt trim. Helmet has perfect form and firm stitching. Exterior lacquer has near perfect finish. Interior has sweat leather and silk headliner in excellent overall condition but shows genuine wear. Inner visors colored red and green. No extra holes in helmet body. Round spike base with 4 gilt stars at the spike base. Frontplate is the Prussian Line Eagle with the round FWR monogram in the center and below it banner "Colberg 1807" for commemoration of the successful resistance of Napoleons siege of Colberg in 1807. Original Reichs and Prussian Officer cockades. Flat gilt chinscales and rosettes. Beautiful and untouched helmet. Absolutely 100% original, beautiful and untouched helmet from an old collection. Near Mint. Seldom seen today. In a German Militaria Auction a helmet like this sold for over $6000 (including bid. Commission and exchange rate). Great buy in today’s market.
