Nice Original Pickelhaube

Baden Field Artillery Reserve Officer Model 1897. From the Rich Ames Collection. All officer quality construction. Black lacquered leather helmet body with round front visor and gold metal trim. The helmet body has nice form and firm stitching. Exterior lacquer is crackled and dulled with age but is complete with no lacquer loss. No extra holes in the helmet body. The interior has officer quality soft sweat leather and silk headliner that shows use and age (see photo). The sweat leather is embossed with the manufacturer “Awes Marke”. Interior visors are lined with Green and Red for Officers. The gold trim is high-quality but slightly dulled with age. All the metal trim matches in color 100%.

The rounded spike base has officer pearl ring with a removable round ball top. The base is held to helmet body with brass/gilt stars retainers that are screwed. The frontplate is the gold frosted Baden Griffin without banner “Mit Gott fur Furst and Vaterland”. On the Griffens is placed a silver Prussian style Landwehr/Reserve Cross.The frontplate has screw back retainers. Rounded gilt chinscales on gold rosettes. Officer style 2-piece Reichs cockade and furled non-serrated Baden cockade. The helmet is uncleaned and never polished it retains its original fire gilding.
