Prussian Enlisted 2nd Telegrapher Battalion Shako
Very rare unit.
Prussian Shako for 2nd Telegrapher Battalion -Established 1899 - Hdq. Frankfurt-Oder and Cottbus, Enlisted Man - Model 1897. From the New England Collection. Black lacquered leather shako with silver metal trim. The helmet body is large sized and in excellent condition with perfect form and firm stitching. No extra holes in the helmet body. The helmet interior has standard black dyed leather EM style liner that is still soft and supple. Marked inside helmet body with makers stamp and date of "1916" and the size "57".
On back visor is the "B.A. III". This means that this shako is for the 2nd Telegrapher Batl. (the only one is the III AK). The frontplate is the small sized Prussian Line Eagle in German silver fixed with leather wedges. This helmet has the seldom seen flat gold EM style chinscales over silver M91 side posts. Single Reichs cockade. Cloth field badge with white body and black center. Extremely rare Shako that is 100% all original and untouched. Very Rare unit.
