Prussian 1st Grenadier Officer Pickelhaube "1655".

Beautiful Helmet Body - Fire gilt trim

Prussian 1st Grenadier Regiment with Banner “1655”, Officer Model 1897 (Newest Model used after 1911). The newer eagle replaced by the old-style Grenadier Eagle with FWR monogram and 1655 banner over the eagle’s head. Black fiber helmet body with fine fire gilt trim. As the helmet dates from post 1911 so this helmet may come from the early wartime era but the metal trim is clearly pre-war quality. The fiber helmet body in perfect condition with firm stitching. The exterior lacquer in near mint condition with a bright finish and no lacquer loss. The helmet body has NO extra holes.

The helmet interior has standard sweat leather and silk headliner. The liner is in tired condition and shows use, tears and wear. Inner visors colored red and green as is proper for an officer helmet. Round spike base with star retainers. The tall gilt spike that is removable. The frontplate in the Prussian wide winged Grenadier Eagle and below it the banner ”1655”, to commemorate the founding date of this Regiment. Flat gilt chinscales on rosettes, both ending leather pieces of scales missing. Original Reichs and Prussian Officer cockades. 100% original helmet. Rarely seen in today’s marketplace.
