Bavarian Leib-Infantry or Pioneer Private Purchase Pickelhaube

Bavarian Leib Infantry Regiment NCO Model 1897 Pickelhaube. Black lacquered leather helmet body with silver trim. Helmet body has excellent form and firm stitching. Exterior lacquer still has its polished sheen in overall near mint condition. No loss of lacquer. Interior sweat band of the fancy type with silk headliner also in excellent condition, just a bit dirty. Interior visors colored red and green. Square front visor. No extra holes in helmet body. Silver crossed spike base with 4 star retainers.

Base has NCO pearlring and none removable fluted spike (Bavarian Infantry did not carry plumes). Silver domed rivets with split retainers. The Frontplate is the massif Silver Bavarian Wappen surrounded by two Lions with the "In treue fest" banner. Leather chinstrap (possible modern..but difficult to make out) on M91 posts with both Reichs and Bavarian Cocardes (Bavarian is a modern repalcement). Beautiful looking helmet for an elite regiment.
