Bavarian 1st Leib Infantry Officer Model 1897. Black lacquered leather helmet body with bright German Silver metal trim.The helmet body has perfect form and firm stitching. Exterior lacquer in veryu good condition. The helmet body has no extra holes. Interior has sweat leather and brown silk head liner. The headliner shows use and wear but is complete and is good condition.

The helmet body is traditional Bavarian squared front visor with cross spike base. The cross base has officer pearl ring and 4 large star retainers. Tall fluted officer spike. The front plate is the classic Bavarian coat of arms in frosted silver. Flat silver chinscales on rosettes. Officer style Reichs and Bavarian 2-piece cockades. The trim and 4 star cross base indicated this helmet was made early in WWI. Rare elite regiment officers helmet that is in very nice condition.
