German Imperial Marine Naval Officers Shako

Imperial German Marine Officers Shako circa 1900. Leather shako helmet body that is covered with black cloth.  All the metal trim is fine fire gilt.  Helmet body has perfect form and firm stitching.  No extra holes in helmet body.  The black cloth has insect damage behind the chinscales (see photos).  

The damage cannot be seen when chinscales in the normal position. The shako frontplate is the Imperial German “Reichs” eagle with wide wings.  The frontplate is attached to the with split brads on back of the plate. Flat gold chinscales on rosettes.  Elegant silver, black and red field badge. Sweat leather and brown silk headliner. Large size.  100% original helmet.  Rare find in today’s marketplace.
