Prussian/Nassau 88th Infantry Regiment Enlisted Pickelhaube

Prussian/Nassau 88th Regiment (2nd Nassau) - Enlisted, Model 1897. Extremely rare helmet with the original "Kammer Stempel" or Regimental markings helmet. The helmet is the standard EM style black lacquered leather helmet body with all gilt/brass metal trim. Helmet body in excellent condition with firm stitching. Exterior lacquer has a few knicks and storage marks but is in excellent condition. The interior has the standard lssued enlisted pre-war black dyed leather headliner. Inner visors are natural colored leather. Back Visor marked to J.R.88 and dated 1893.
The frontplate for the helmet is a tombac/brass EM Line Prussian Eagle and the banners "La Belle Alliance" on either side of the eagle's head and "Mesa de Ibor" and "Medellin" around the eagle's legs. The helmet plate is mounted to the helmet with EM style loops and both original leather wedges (see photos) through grommeted holes. Note that the shells present aonther set of definitely arsenal re-plugged holes (see photos) that can only be seen from underneath. Helmet was re-lacquered in teh arsenal when re-issued as no trces are seen from top (see pics). The helmet has a Standard Enlisted Man spike base with round brad retainers. M91 side lugs. No strap or Cockads.
