Bavarian Schwere Reiter Officer helmet Model 1897 that has been manufactured circa 1915. Near mint and absolutely untouched WWI helmet. Black lacquered leather helmet body with fine Silvered “Kriegsmetall” wartime metal trim. The metal trim has lost some of its adherence to the wartime zinc metal (see photos). The helmet body has perfect form and firm stitching. Exterior lacquer in near perfect condition. The helmet body has no extra holes.

Interior has near mint sweat leather and light brown color silk head liner. The helmet body is traditional Bavarian squared front visor with cross spike base. The cross base has ornamented base and large star retainers. Fluted Bavarian style removable officer spike. The front plate is the classic large sized Bavarian coat of arms that has pin back retainers. Slightly rounded silver chinscales on rosettes. Officer style Reichs and special Bavarian 2-piece cockades. Beautiful and classic Bavarian Wartime Officer helmet. This helmet is in beautiful condition. Perfect piece for a WWI era collection.
