Outstanding and RARE named Guard Eisenbahn helmet
Prussian Guard 3rd Eisenbahn Regiment (Established in 1893 - Headquarter in Hanau)– One Year Volunteer - Model 1895. From the New England Collection. Black lacquered leather helmet body with silver metal trim. The helmet body has excellent form and firm stitching. The exterior lacquer in excellent condition. No extra holes in the helmet body. Ink marked inside the back visor "E.R. 3 1898". Inside the helmet bell is the wearers tag (partial) "Einj. Freiwillige - v.d. Heuvile - 6 Bat....." (see photo).
The helmet interior has NCO style black leather flat tabbed headliner (see photos). The frontplate is the frosted silver Prussian Guard Eagle. On the eagle’s breast is a silver Guard star in the center. Round spike base with silver domed retainers. The spike top is removable which is proper for this unit. Flat gold chinscales on silver M92 side lugs. Reich and Prussian EM cockades. Outstanding and RARE named Guard Eisenbahn helmet. Untouched and unaltered helmet.
