Baden Dragoon Officer Pickelhaube

All officer high quality construction

Baden Dragoon Officer from Regiments 20, 21 or 22, Model 1897. From the Rich Ames Collection. All officer high quality construction. Black lacquered leather helmet body with squared front visor and silver metal trim. All metal parts are held to helmet by split brad retainers. The helmet body has nice form and firm stitching. Exterior lacquer is complete with some minor crazing. No extra holes in the helmet body. The interior has officer quality soft sweat leather and silk headliner. The sweat leather is embossed with the manufacturer “Awes Marke”.
Interior visors are lined with Green and Red for Officers. The polished silver trim is high-quality. All the metal trim matches in color 100%. The spike base has crossed base and officer pearl ring with a removable tall spike. The base is held to helmet body with brass/gilt stars retainers that are split brads. The frontplate is the silver frosted Baden Griffin that has split brads retainers. Rounded gilt chinscales on silver rosettes. Officer style 2-piece Reichs cockade and furled non-serrated Baden cockade. The helmet retains its original fire gilding.
This helmet was offered earlier but went unsold. Several of our customers were worried that the silver trim was too heavily oxidized. On careful examination we found that the metal trim is HIGH quality silver and that the discoloration was only on the surface. With approval of Mrs. Ames, we carefully cleaned the metal trim and frontplate to remove the dark spots. The results were quite impressive and we believe that this helmet deserves a second look. Especially at a discounted price.
