Prussian Foot Artillery for Line Regiments, private purchase One Year Volunteer Model 1897. From the John Mann Collection. Fine black lacquered leather helmet body with high gilded brass trim. The helmet body has firm stitching but the top is a little sunken in. This can be easily fixed.. Exterior lacquer is slightly crazed with age but is in overall good condition. The interior of the helmet has officer sweat leather and tan colored silk headliner that is in perfect condition.
The inner visors of helmet are red and green as is common for officers. No extra holes in the helmet body. The front plate is the Prussian Line Regiments heraldic eagle. The frontplate is held to the helmet by screw attachments. Officer style spike and base held to helmet body with domed screw retainers which is common for a one year volunteer. The artillery ball top is the elegant extra tall type. Flat chinscales on rosettes for foot artillery. Reichs and Prussian 2-piece officer cockades. Fine helmet that needs some TLC. Bargain priced.
