Bavarian Private Purchase Enlisted/NCO Infantry Pickelhaube

Bavarian Infantry M1886 NCO private purchase helmet with Reichs cockade. The Reichs cockade indicting useage of helmet until until at least 1897. Black lacquered leather body in excellent condition with firm stitching. The helmet resembles a Bavarian officer style, but is a true NCO. Brass metal trim with squared front visor trim (note trim is slightly loose from the aging of leather) and crossed spike base and fluted spike secured by 4 split brads. The spike is not removable. Large Bavarian Front Plate with the "In Treue Fest" bandeau.

No extra holes. Back spine in brass. Interior has sweat leather and plum colored silk headliner. The sweat leather has some tears, please view photos. Interesting M1886 Bavarian style side posts that preceded the M1891 Prussian style. Bavarian style original Leather strap. Bavarian NCO Cockade with Reichs NCO cockade that was introduced in 1897. Both are original to helmet. Wonderful and original career Bavarian NCO helmet. Uncleaned and unpolished. Bargain priced.
