Baden 14th Pioneer Reserve Officer Model 1897. From the Rich Ames Collection. Beautiful black lacquered fiber (Depahag Patent) helmet body with dine silver trim. The helmet body has perfect form and firm stitching. Exterior lacquer is in near mint condition with near mirror finish. The interior of the helmet has officer tan colored sweat liner with Depahag Patent stamp and a silk headliner. No extra holes in the helmet body. The inner visors of helmet are red and green as is common for officers.
The frontplate is 100% original and finely silver frosted with a silver "Mit Gott fur Fuerst und Vaterland" reserve cross in the center of the frontplate. The frontplate is held to the helmet by screw attachments. Officer style round spike and base held to helmet body with star screw retainers. The spike top is removable. Flat officer chinscales on rosettes. Reichs and Baden 2-piece officer cockades. This helmet is 100% original, uncleaned and untouched. This is one of the finest conditioned helmets we have ever seen. Rare unit as Pioneer Battalions have a small number of officers. It is absolutely MINT
