Saxe Coburg-Gotha, Infanterie Regt. 95 EM/NCO Pickelhaube

Original parts

Composite helmet from the Saxon Dutchies. Black leather helmet shell of the 1871 pattern for Officers in nice shape. Overall lacquer is not craqued or brittle just shows age from storage. Round spike base with officers perlring that does not unscrew. Round brads. The front plate is the Enlisted pattern of the "Dutchy" eagle with the "Mit Gott für Fuerst und Veterland Bandeau", in its center the Sae Coburg Gotha silver Wappen surrounded with laurel leaves.

The front plate is held to the helmet by two srews and nuts. A set of other holes can be found underneath the plate. Plate is definitely of genuine and period manufacturing. A pair of M1891 set of flat chinscales fitted over M1891 posts along with both original and period Cockads underneath. The inside of the helmet is of officers grade with black sweatband but missing the silk headliner. The configuration of officers shell, M1891 posts and EM type eagle would ket us assume that the helmet was assembled by a collector in the past. Bargain priced, parts alone are worth more.
