Prussian 13th Uhlan "private purchase" Tschapka

A Rare Regimental Tschapka

Black lacquered leather tschapka body in very good condition. Only some crazing and chips to the back of the shell (see pictures). Front visor is the correct officers type for Tschapkas. The helmet plate is the large winged silver Prussian Garde Eagle attributed to this Regiment on January 24th, 1899 in honor of the Hanovarian Gardes du Corps Regiment's participation in the Napoleonic campains. The following bandeaux with the battle names of "Peninsula" - "Waterloo" - "Garcia-Hernandez" were therefor addded to the Eagle.

This Regiment was one of Koenig Wilhelm II prefered Regiment. Hence later called "Koenigs Uhlanen Regiment". The Plate is mounted to the tschapka with two loops and leather wedges. Holes slightly enlarged (see pictures) most likely tschapka was worn prior to 1899 with the silver line eagle plate. Convex gilt chinscales mounted with gold rosettes and NCO Reichs cockade. No Feldzeichen. The inside of the helmet shell has the nicer NCO leather lining in good and supple condition. Note the tears on one side and towards the back of shell. A Rare Tschapka to find.
