Nice Gilting with Enameled Star
Prussian 1st Guard Dragoon Regiment - Reserve Officer to Parade - Model 1897. Helmet is uncleaned and unpolished condition. Black lacquered leather helmet body with gilded metal trim. The helmet has fine form and firm stitching. External lacquer is lightly crazed due to age but no lacquer loss. There are no extra holes in the helmet body. The helmet interior has soft sweat leather and silk headliner.
Inner visors color red on back and green on front. Crossed spike base with a tall plume Trichter and white Yak hair plume (see photo). The base has gold star retainers. The frontplate is the massive, fired gilded Prussian Guard eagle without banner and an enameled Guard star on the breast of the eagle. Underneath Guard Star is a silver Prussian Reserve cross. The mounting posts behind the frontplate have been moved (see photo). Rounded gold chinscales on rosettes. Officer Prussian and Reichs cockades.
