Braunschweig Infantry Regt.92 Reserve Officer Pickelhaube

Extremely Rare - Untouched & 100% original

Braunschweig 92nd Infantry Regiment – I and II Battalion – Reserve Officer Model 1897 (circa 1910) with black yak hair parade plume. Unique and all original helmet from an old collection. Black lacquered leather helmet body with fire gilt metal officer trim. Helmet body has perfect form (one side of back visor stitching loose). Exterior lacquer has bright finish. No extra holes in helmet body. The helmet interior has officer style sweat leather and light-colored silk headliner in mint condition. Interior visors colored red and green as proper for officer helmet. The helmet frontplate is the Prussian style gilt line eagle without banner. On the chest of the eagle is star of the House Order of Braunschweig with the center with fine red enamel, The arms of the cross are blue lacquered. Directly under the House Order is a silver reserve cross with the motto “Mit Gott fur Furst u, Vaterland”.

As a reserve officer, the “Peninsula” normally seen one the line regiments helmet is absent. Officer style spike top with pearl ring. Star retainers hold the spike to the helmet body. Instead of a spike, the base is mounted with a tall gilt plume holder (trichter) with a full black Yak hair parade plume. Flat chinscales on rosettes. Officer style Reichs and blue/gold ring Braunschweig cockades. In 1912 this style frontplate was replaced by the Skull used by the 3rd Batallion. This style helmet was allowed to be used for Reserve and Landwehr Officers in the Landwehr Bezirks for Braunschweig until 1918. Untouched and all original rare Braunschweig Reserve Officer helmet. Extremely hard to find an original one like this.
