Prussian 15th Uhlan Tunic & Pants for an Oberst
Nice and Rare Ensemble
Schleswig-Holstein Uhlan Regiment No. 15 Uniform and Pants
An officer's uniform ensemble appropriate for 'walking-out' (Ausgang) duty comprised of tunic and trousers. The 15th uhlans were founded in 1866 and garrisoned at Saarburg.
Tunic (ulanka) is composed of dark blue tight woven cloth with fine lemon-yellow piping to the front, rear skirt and cuffs; standing lemon-yellow collar and cuffs with all appropriate white metal buttons present. Colonel (Oberst) shoulder boards each display gilt '15' numerals. Epaulette holders (passanten) remain in place on each shoulder. A series of sewn loops on the right chest could display a ribbon bar. Below the Left chest a Stitched "Johanniter Kreuz". Fine officer quality lining. Makers etiquette "Gebrüder Giesen" "Saarburg i/Lothr."
Trousers (Hose) are constructed of fine dark blue whipcord material. Two broad lemon-yellow officer stripes separated by a narrow line appear on each outseam. All proper fastening buttons present. Some light wear in the back. All buttons present with the maker from Strasbourg "A.NOTHDURFT - STRASSBURG i/ELS." A beautiful ensemble.
