Saxon Garde Reiter/Carabinier Eigentums Pickelhaube

Rare & Beautiful

$8 850.00

Saxon Guard Rider or Carabinier Officer Aspirant helmet circa 1910. Stunning tall late pattern Luxus quality Tombak helmet for a Fahnrich or One Year Volunteer of these Regiments. The Fahnrich and OYV helmet were custom made officer quality helmets (see attached Photo) that had small EM style modifications to attest to the soldier's Aspirant status. Once the soldier completes his training and assumes full officer rank the small EM parts are replaced with officer pieces. This helmet has a smooth spike (EM) instead of a fluted officer spike. The frontplate crest has an unpierced crown and the chinscales rosettes are plain instead of the clover leaf.
This helmet has a flawless Tombak helmet shell with officer quality silver trim. Exterior tombak finish is near mirror quality. The frontplate is the large silver Saxon Star with the center being the Royal Crest in gold. The crown on top of the crest is not pierced, which indicates Officer Aspirant status. Officer style equilateral spike base with smooth tombak spike. Rounded tombak chinscales held to helmet body with plain rosettes that have screw attachments. Reichs and Saxon 2 piece officer style cockades. The helmet interior has officer sweat leath and silk healiner. Back visor is covered with black velvet and the front visor with green leather. No extra holes in helmet body.
The inside front green leather was carefully restored and cleaned by the previous collector but the helmet quality speaks for itself. This helmet represents the elegance and beauty of the Imperial Era.
