Schleswig-Holstein Uhlan Regiment No. 15 Uniform Ensemble

An officer's uniform ensemble appropriate for 'walking-out' (Ausgang) duty comprised of tunic, visor cap and trousers. The 15th uhlans were founded in 1866 and garrisoned at Saarburg.

Tunic (ulanka) is composed of dark blue tight woven cloth with fine lemon-yellow piping to the front, rear skirt and cuffs; standing lemon-yellow collar and cuffs with all appropriate white metal buttons present. Captain's (Hauptman) shoulder boards each display gilt '15' numerals and two rank stars. Epaulette holders (passanten) remain in place on each shoulder. A series of sewn loops on the right chest could display a ribbon bar of 6 or 7 awards. Fine officer quality lining.

Visor Cap (schirmutze) is composed of dark blue cloth with a lemon-yellow band, lemon-yellow piping borders the band and outlines the crown. Both National and Prussian officer cockades are properly in place. A black leather visor and brown interior sweatband completes the cap. Note that the visor has come loose on the cap (see pictures) some "old" tape has been used to keep it in place..easy to remove for a professional. Otherwise cap is in excllent to near mint condition.

Trousers (Hose) are constructed of fine dark blue whipcord material. Two broad lemon-yellow officer stripes separated by a narrow line appear on each outseam. All proper fastening buttons present. A beautiful ensemble.
