Hessen 115th Leib-Infantry Enlisted Pickelhaube

Rare and Original helmet

Hessen 115th Lifeguard Infantry Regiment (The Grand Duke of Hessen Regiment) – Enlisted Man – Model 1897.  Recently acquired from a US Collector.  Black lacquered leather with silver metal trim. The helmet body is in excellent condition with firm stitching and no extra holes in helmet body. Inside black EM style liner that is in excellent condition.  Inside leather visors have illegible markings (see photo). German Silver metal trim that was left untouched/uncleaned as found.

The frontplate is the double wreathed Hessen Lion with the guard star of Hessen on the lion’s breast. Above the frontplate the special silver commemoration bandeau with "1621"indicating the founding year of the Regiment. Hessen style cross base mounted with silver brad retainers. The special Hessen style fluted spike is removable. Leather chinstrap with silver metal fittings. Stamped metal serrated Reichs cockade and non-serrated EM. Beautiful helmet from an elite regiment
