Prussian Landwehr Grenadier Officers Pickelhaube

Prussian Landwehr Officer for Grenadier Regts. 2, 3,5, 6,10,11 or 12 Model 1897. Black lacquered leather helmet body with gilded brass trim. The helmet body is in very used condition but with firm stitching to visors. Interior of helmet show heavy use. The sweat leather is complete but dirty. The silk headliner is dirty and torn and has lost its stitching to the sweat leather (see photos). The Frontplate is the large winged Prussian Grenadier Officers type without “Mit Gott fur Koenig and Vaterland” banner but with a Prussian Landwehr Cross on the Eagles breast.

There are no extra holes in the helmet body, but the screw posts on the back of the frontplate have been moved (see photos). GILT flat chinscales maintained by rosettes over the Reichs and Prussian Cockades. Please note that as a Landwehr Officer, the wearer had probably serve at least 15 years, and so has the helmet. It has seen a lot of action so the use appears to be genuine Prussian Grenadier Landwehr Officer helmet. This helmet has not been cleaned or polished.
