Baden Infantry Officer Model 1897. Found in an estate sale in Texas. Black lacquered leather helmet body with brass gilded trim. The helmet body has excellent form and firm stitching. Exterior lacquer is dulled with age but is complete with no damage or lacquer loss. There are 2 extra holes behind the frontplate in the helmet body. This Baden frontplate has left deep marks in the leather so appears this helmet plate has been there since WWI.
The interior has officer quality leather headliner and dirty silk headliner. Interior visors are colored red and green. The back leather visor shows wear on the edges (see photo). Baden Griffen frontplate . The gilded brass trim is also officer quality. The officer style spike base and spike. The base is held to helmet body with brass star retainers. Flat gilt chinscales on rosettes. Officer style 2 piece Reichs and furled non-serrated Baden cockade. The helmet is uncleaned and never polished. Nice Baden officer helmet that is all original.
