Prussian 2nd Field Artillery "Colberg 1807" Officers Pickelhaube

Extremely RARE Artillery Officer helmet

Prussian 2nd Field Artillery-1st Battery and 3rd Field Artillery -6th Battery, Officer helmet Model 1897 circa 1914. Black lacquered fiber helmet body with fire gilt metal trim. Helmet has perfect form and firm stitching. The exterior lacquer has small surface scratches but no lacquer loss (see photos). No extra holes in the helmet body. The interior of the helmet has sweat leather and silk headliner. Both interior visor lined in brown which is very common for wartime models.

The frontplate is the Prussian line Eagle with the FWR monogram on the eagles chest. On the lower leg portion on the is the banner “Colberg 1807” which commemorates the units service at the Siege of Colberg by Napoleon in 1807. The frontplate is extremely RARE as there were only 2 batteries that received this helmet plate. Round spike base with star retainers. Elongated artillery ball finial. Rounded chinscales on rosettes. Officer Reichs and Prussian cockades. This fiber helmet probably dates from the early wartime years. EXTREMELY rare. Wonderful and 100% original piece. Amazing condition.
