Prussian Grenadier Officers Pickelhaube
100% Original/Untouched.
Prussian "Old" Grenadier Regiments 5,6,10,11 and 12 Officer helmet Model 1897-Post 1911. Beautiful black lacquered leather helmet body with highly gilded brass trim. The helmet body has excellent form and firm stitching. Exterior lacquer shows crackling due to age and a crease in the back left panel (see photos), but otherwise is in excellent condition. The interior of the helmet has officer sweat leather and silk headliner that shows minor use but are otherwise in very good condition.
The inner visors of helmet are red and green as is common for officers. As the front plate was changed for this regiment in 1911 there are tiny extra holes behind the front plate. The were closed at that time but still can be seen when the plate in removed. There is no doubt this front plate has been on the helmet for 100 years. The front plate is the Prussian wide winged Grenadier Regiments Eagle that was first used by the "Old" Grenadier Regiments beginning in 1911. The front plate is 100% original and finely gilded, it is held to the helmet by screw attachments. Officer style spike and base held to helmet body with star screw retainers. The spike top is removable. Flat officer chinscales on rosettes. Reichs and Prussian 2-piece officer cockades. This helmet is 100% original and untouched.
