French Hussar Helmet model 1910.

Near Mint Condition - Rare Unit!

Polished Steel Helmet body with front and back steel visors. Overall steel in near mint condition with a nice age patina that can easily been polished to perfection... if desired. Front and back visors with the original green and black lacquer underneath. Helmet marked with the makers stamp "Franck et Fils Aubervilliers" and sized "57". The top of the helmet has the typical but lower type "Cimier" in stamped out brass with the original horsehair mane. The French as opposed to other countries have used the horsehair "Mane" for their Cavalry helmets as a means of defense againft sword strickes as well as distraction to the adversary.

The front Bandeau is the stamped brass sunburst with the silver 5 pointed star for the "Hussard" units. Inside of the helmet has the original black leather liner in excellent condition. A set of Chinscales of the special type (only used for Hussar and Chasseur helmets) are fixed to the helmet on Bayonet type lugs. A Rare Helmet only made in short quantities and used by few regiments. The Adrian Helmet was the later replacement in 1915.
